Holiday Cards for Auto Dealers — the three-year gap you have to survive

Franchise dealerships, independent lots, service centers, body shops, tire and collision. Businesses with enormous customer lists and an enormous gap between purchases.

100 cards$2.85under, per card
250 cards$2.35under, per card
500 cards$2.18under, per card
1,000 cards$1.85under, per card

Good-tier pricing, with envelopes and imprinting included. Early-order discounts come off on top of these prices — 25% by October 15, then 20% by November 16, then 10% by December 11. Better and Best designs cost more — see all three tiers and price your order.

The gap is the entire problem

People keep a vehicle six or seven years now. In that time your salesperson has probably moved on, the customer has forgotten the name on the plate frame, and the next purchase gets decided by whoever was advertising in the month they got tired of their car. Nothing you do on the day of delivery survives six years on its own. Something small every November does.

Service is the relationship — sales is just the event

The service drive sees a customer two or three times a year for six years. That's where retention is actually won and where the next sale gets made or lost. A card that goes to the whole service file, not just to buyers, is the cheapest way to keep the shop in mind against every quick-lube coupon mailer in the market.

One card, two names

Dealership name at the top, salesperson or service advisor underneath. Customers are loyal to a person before they are loyal to a rooftop, and if that person has moved on, the store's name is the one holding the relationship. Imprint up to four lines, so both fit — and we keep your logo on file, so next year's order costs nothing extra to set up.

Cards for dealers

Straight answer — we don't print a card with a car on it, because nobody keeps one. What dealerships actually order is vintage Americana, and this is it. Prices shown are per card with envelopes at 100 — they come down at every quantity break.

Questions we get from dealers

Does a dealership holiday card actually bring people back?
Not by itself — and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling something. It's one touch in a retention program. What makes it worth doing is the price of the touch. About five dollars a card, against several hundred dollars to conquest a replacement customer through advertising. At the floor that's a ratio of 50 to 1, and no realistic dealership sits at the floor.
Should it come from the store or the salesperson?
Both names on one card. Stores that let salespeople hand-sign their own customers' cards get noticeably better results, and it costs you an afternoon in the tower in November. If your turnover is high, lead with the store name so the card still means something when the customer looks at it.
Can we imprint a manufacturer logo?
Your dealership logo, absolutely — $30 one-time setup, free on every re-order after. Manufacturer marks depend on your brand guidelines and your dealer agreement, and clearing that is your call, not ours. Most stores imprint the dealership name and leave the factory mark off, which also keeps the card looking like it came from people rather than from corporate.
How many, and when?
Everyone in the service file from the last three years plus every buyer from the last six. For a single rooftop that runs into the thousands, which puts you at the best per-card price we publish. Order in September or early October — the discount is 25% off the card price through October 15, and December in a dealership is not the month to be proofreading anything.
