Questions we actually get asked

Forty-two years of phone calls, written down. If yours isn't here, call 833-682-8250 — a person answers, and then we add the question to this page.

Ordering

What is your minimum order?
Twenty-five cards. Most business orders run between 250 and 1,000, but we'll print 25 and we'll print 50,000. Published pricing starts at 100 — below that your price is confirmed in the cart before you pay.
How do I order?
Online, any hour — the catalog, all three price tiers and the calculator are open at midnight if that's when you have the time. Or call 833-682-8250 and somebody who knows the catalog will pick up.
How do I reorder last year's card?
Email [email protected] or call 833-682-8250 and tell us roughly when you ordered. We keep logo files on record, so there's no setup charge the second time.
Do you sell to individuals, or only businesses?
Both. Most of our volume is business, but plenty of families order their Christmas cards from us every year — usually the 50 to 100 card list somebody has been maintaining for a decade. Christmas cards →
How many cards does a firm like mine usually send?
More than people first guess, because the list that matters includes referral sources and not just clients. Attorneys, CPAs, advisors and agents send each other work all year, and those names are the highest-return ones on the list — and the ones most often left off. Most small and mid-size firms land between 250 and 600. The profession pages go through it by practice.

Pricing & payment

What does a business holiday card cost?
Every design sits in one of three tiers. On the Good tier, with envelopes and imprinting included: under $2.86 a card at 100, under $2.35 at 250, under $2.19 at 500 and under $1.85 at 1,000. Better and Best cost more. The calculator will price your exact order.
How does the early-order discount work?
It comes off on top of our everyday prices — 25% off the card price through October 15, then 20% by November 16 and 10% by December 11. Those table prices aren't inflated numbers waiting for a sale. The discount applies to the cards; services like addressing, mailing, logo setup and proofs are charged as listed.
Can we pay by purchase order?
In some situations, yes. Call 833-682-8250 and we'll tell you straight away whether we can set it up for your organization. Worth asking before you assume the answer is no — a lot of our law firm, nonprofit and healthcare customers can't pay any other way.
Is imprinting extra?
No. Up to four lines on the card and four on the envelope are included, in any of seven ink colors and seventeen font styles. Imprinting the card is free — it's in the price, not an add-on. A logo is $30 the first time and free on re-orders.

Personalizing

What can I put on the card?
Up to four lines on the card and four more on the envelope. Seven ink colors — red, royal blue, hunter green, black, gold, burgundy and navy — and seventeen font styles. Pick a verse from our library or write your own.
What does it cost to have the cards imprinted?
Nothing. Imprinting is free — your firm name, your lines of text, your chosen ink color and font are all in the price you see. It isn't an add-on and it isn't a setup fee. Envelope imprinting is included too. The only imprint charge on the whole order is $30 the first time we set up a logo, and that's free on every re-order after.
Can I put my logo on it?
Yes. Logo setup is $30 the first time and we keep the file on record, so re-orders in later years cost nothing extra. Multiple colors are fine — you don't have to flatten a two-color mark down to one.
What does my logo file need to look like?
300 dpi CMYK, at final size or larger, and clean artwork. A vector file (.ai, .eps or .pdf) is best because it scales without softening. A high-resolution PNG or JPEG usually works — send what you have and we'll tell you honestly whether it will hold up at print size rather than printing something fuzzy and hoping you don't notice.
Do you print the envelopes too?
Yes, and you should. An envelope that's recognizably yours before it's opened is an envelope that gets opened. Envelope imprinting is included, and foil-lined envelopes are available.
Do the cards come with envelopes?
Every order includes envelopes. They're in the price you see — not an add-on, not a surprise at checkout.

Proofs & getting it right

Will I see it before it prints?
$20 for a printed proof mailed to you, and nothing goes to press until you approve it. On any order carrying a logo we'd push you to take one. It's the step that catches the thing nobody spotted on screen.
Who is responsible for checking the proof?
You are, and we'd rather say so plainly than surprise you later. Once you approve a proof, what's on it is what prints — spelling, names, layout, logo placement. That's the whole reason the step exists, and it's why we'd rather you took an extra day over it than rushed.
Will the printed card match what I see on screen?
Close, but not identical. Monitors vary, and printed ink is an approximation of what's on your display. If exact color matters on your order — a brand color in a logo, usually — buy the proof and look at the actual paper.
There's a mistake on my cards. What happens?
If the printed cards don't match the proof you approved, or they arrive damaged, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we'll reprint them. That's our error and we fix it at our cost. See shipping & returns for the full policy.
Can I return them if I change my mind?
No, and it isn't us being difficult. Your cards carry your name, your firm and your logo — they can't be resold to anyone else, so a return would just be destroying them. Every personalized printer works this way. It's the reason the proof step matters: you approve it before we print it, and if what arrives doesn't match what you approved, that's ours to fix.

Timing

When should I order?
September or October, and the discount is the smaller of the two reasons. Cards mailed early land on the wall before the December pile arrives, so they get seen for longer. And the version of you that orders in September is a great deal calmer than the version placing a rush order on December 3rd. The early-order discount takes 25% off the card price on top of our everyday pricing if you order by October 15, then 20% by November 16 and 10% by December 11. After that it's everyday pricing, and you can still order through December 21.
What's the last day I can order and still send before Christmas?
December 21. Order by then and your cards are in your hands in time to get them in the mail before Christmas. That holds wherever you are in the contiguous states.
So should I wait until December?
No. December 21 is what's possible, not what's sensible. A card mailed on the 22nd reaches people somewhere between Christmas and New Year, in a week when they're half out of the office. A card mailed in early December — or better, a Thanksgiving card in early November — lands on a wall that still has room on it. We publish the last date because you deserve to know it. We'd just rather you didn't need it.
Why send a Thanksgiving card instead of a Christmas card?
Three reasons, and the first one is just arithmetic.

Yours arrives alone. Every vendor your client works with sends a card in December. Yours lands in a pile of forty, gets three seconds, and goes in a drawer with the rest. A card that arrives the first week of November lands on a wall that still has room on it — and it stays there through the whole season, while the December cards stack up underneath.

The message fits the room. Thanks for the relationship is the most appropriate thing a business can say to a client on the whole calendar. It isn't religious. It isn't commercial. It doesn't ask for anything. And you never have to guess what somebody celebrates, or whether they celebrate anything at all — Thanksgiving is the one holiday where gratitude is the entire point, and gratitude is what you were trying to say.

You're a calmer person in October. The version of you choosing a card in early autumn has time to get the list right and the wording right. The version doing it on December 3rd takes whatever ships fastest.

Most of the industry is fighting for December attention. It's the smartest card most businesses aren't sending. Thanksgiving cards →
How long does an order take?
It moves with the season. The pattern worth knowing: September and October are comfortable, and the first two weeks of December are not. If you have a hard deadline, tell us before you order — note it with the order or call 833-682-8250 and we'll give you a real date rather than a hopeful one.

Shipping & mailing

What does shipping cost?
Ground shipping within the contiguous United States, priced by quantity. You can see the rate before you order — it isn't calculated at the end and it isn't a percentage of your order.
QuantityCardsCalendar cards
25–100$17.99$24.99
125–200$24.99$29.99
225–475$29.99$34.99
500–975$34.99$39.99
1,000–4,975$39.99$44.99
5,000+$44.99$49.99

Calendar cards are heavier, so they ship for a little more. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico aren't covered by these rates — call 833-682-8250 and we'll quote it.

How much postage does a card need?
One first-class stamp for a standard card domestically. If you're inserting anything extra — a photo, a note, a business card — weigh one before you buy a roll of stamps.
Can you address them for me?
Yes. Addressing is $75 for the order. You send the list, we print the addresses on your envelopes.
Can you mail the whole thing for me?
Yes. $350 for the full mailing service — we address, stamp, seal and mail from your list. Most people who have hand-addressed 400 envelopes once do not do it twice.
What happens to my mailing list?
It's used for your order and nothing else. We don't sell it, rent it, trade it, or market to it. That matters more to our business customers than almost anything else on this page, so we'll say it plainly. It's in our privacy policy in writing.

The cards themselves

What size are the cards and what are they printed on?
Standard card is 7⅞ × 5⅝ inches on 12pt stock. A 14pt upgrade is $15 on the order — noticeably heavier in the hand, and worth it if the card is representing a firm.
Are your cards made in the USA?
Every one. It matters to a lot of our customers and it matters to us.
Do you do custom cards?
For orders of 1,000 or more we'll work with you to design and produce a card that's yours alone. That's a conversation rather than a shopping cart — call 833-682-8250 or send us the details.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us who you're sending to and roughly how many. We've been doing this since 2003 — we'll point you at the three or four designs that actually fit, and you can take it from there.
