Holiday Cards for Nonprofits — the donor thank-you that isn't another ask

Nonprofits and faith organizations place our largest average orders — and they're the group most often left off a card company's list. Here's what we've learned printing for them.

100 cards$2.86under, per card
250 cards$2.35under, per card
500 cards$2.19under, per card
1,000 cards$1.85under, per card

Good-tier pricing, with envelopes and imprinting included. Early-order discounts come off on top of these prices — 25% by October 15, then 20% by November 16, then 10% by December 11. Better and Best designs cost more — see all three tiers and price your order.

A card that doesn't ask for anything

Your donors hear from you when you need something. That's the nature of it. A card in November that says thank you and nothing else is the one piece of mail all year that isn't a solicitation — and it is remembered accordingly. Send it before the year-end appeal, not with it.

Religious and secular, both done right

A church sending to its congregation and a foundation sending to a mixed donor list have opposite requirements. We carry a full Religious family alongside Peace on Earth, Dove and Winter Scene for organizations that need warmth without doctrine. Hanukkah too.

Volume pricing that respects the budget

Every dollar on printing is a dollar not on program. At 1,000 cards you're at $1.85 a card, and the early-order discount takes 25% off the card price if you order by October 15. Order in September and the difference is real money.

Questions we get from nonprofits

What do you write in a donor holiday card?
Gratitude, specifically. “Because of you, 400 families ate this year” beats “Thank you for your support.” One concrete number does more than a paragraph of warmth. And no ask — not even a soft one. The card's whole value is that it isn't asking.
Should a nonprofit send religious or secular cards?
Depends who's on the list. A congregation list — religious is expected and welcome. A mixed donor or corporate-partner list — secular is safer, and Thanksgiving sidesteps the question entirely. Many organizations split the list and send both. We can imprint two different designs on one order.
Do you offer nonprofit pricing?
Our pricing is the same for everyone — everyday pricing with early-order discounts rather than inflated prices with big discounts on top. At volume the per-card cost drops the same way for a foundation as for a law firm. Call us on a large order and we'll see what we can do.
When should a nonprofit mail?
Early November, ahead of the year-end appeal. Thanksgiving cards land when almost nobody else is sending, on a desk that still has room, with the most appropriate message on the calendar — thanks for the relationship. Then the appeal goes out after, into a warmer room.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us who you're sending to and roughly how many. We've been doing this since 2003 — we'll point you at the three or four designs that actually fit, and you can take it from there.
