When you want the card to feel observed rather than designed. An illustrated snow scene is a mood; a photograph of a lit street at dusk is a place, and places are harder to dismiss.
It suits firms whose work is factual — accountants, engineers, medical practices — where a decorative card can feel slightly off-brand.
