Ordering 1,000 Holiday Cards or More: What Changes at Volume
Three things change when an order crosses 1,000 cards. The price per card keeps stepping down. Shipping barely moves. And at 1,000 and up, we will design a card that is yours alone. One thing does not change: somebody still has to sign them.
The price steps. It does not slide.
Our price holds at one rate from each break to the next. 1,000 cards and 1,475 cards cost the same per card. At 1,500 it drops, and it holds again until the next break.
Which produces the most useful fact on this page: near the top of a step, a bigger order can cost less than a smaller one. 975 Good-tier cards list at $1,964.43. 1,000 list at $1,846.90. That is 25 more cards for $117.53 less.
It happens at every break from 500 up, in all three tiers. You do not have to work it out. Type your quantity into the calculator and it will tell you when the next break up costs less.
The breaks from 1,000 to 10,000

What scales and what does not
Shipping barely moves. One flat ground rate covers every order from 1,000 to 4,975 cards in the contiguous US: $39.99. From 5,000 up it is $44.99. Shipping 4,975 cards costs the same as shipping 1,000.
The per-100 services scale all the way up. Addressing is $75 per 100, so $750 at 1,000. Full mailing, postage included, is $350 per 100, which is $3,500 at 1,000. At this size those lines can outweigh the cards, so price them before you assume.
Logo setup does not scale at all. $30 for the card, $30 for the envelope, once.
The early-order discount comes off the cards at any quantity. On a large order that is real money, which is one more reason the date you order matters as much as the number.

What does not change at 1,000
Somebody still has to sign them. At 1,000 that is not an evening, it is a project. Split the stack by relationship so each person signs only their own clients. More on that in How to Sign a Business Holiday Card.
And the list gets harder, not easier. A thousand names hold more stale addresses than a hundred. Read it before you send it.
The short version
Price the quantity you need, then check the next break up, because it may cost less. Shipping is nearly flat, the services are not. At 1,000 and up, ask about a card of your own.
